Park Work Party Invitation

Sunday, March 17th, 10 AM–1 PM

🌧Rain or shine☀️ — There is no bad weather, only bad clothes.

Do you enjoy Mirrormont Park? If so, we need your help. While King County Parks mows the meadow and removes hazardous trees, we bear responsibility for most other maintenance.

Top priority projects are: Safety! Having fun. Meeting new neighbors. Building community. And getting these jobs done:

SPRING CLEAN-UP:

· Remove storm debris and ladder fuels; make Firewise piles along the street for Chipper Days (April 22–23).

· Weed the dogwood berm by the entrance to the meadow—and other berms.

· Replace rotted edging around berms.

· Rake grass on meadow

· Re-seed over mole mounds

RESTORATION:

· Remove invasive Himalayan blackberries from around the meadow and along the streets.

· Remove invasive yellow archangel (lamium) and English ivy.

REFRESHMENTS & ADMIN:

· Check in volunteers.

· Handle refreshments.

If fear of bears has kept you from exploring Mirrormont Park, our upcoming work party is a great opportunity. There will be no chance of encounters with bears. They are lazy and don’t like to work.

MEET by the picnic tables in the meadow to check in. BRING gloves, shovels, trowels, pruners, loppers, and hand saws if you have them. If not, we can borrow tools from the Pea Patch. Please let us know if you are available for all or part of the day so we can be sure to have enough snacks and lunch for all. Or come spontaneously!

CONTACT for questions or to RSVP: Park@Mirrormont.org or PeaPatch@mirrormont.org

Thank you, and best wishes to all in Mirrormont!
