2009 Mirrormont Events

Each year the Mirrormont Community Association (MCA) sponsors a host of events to bring the neighborhood together. Some events are social events for adults, others for kids and families, and some events are for the cleanliness and security of the community.

Mirrormont events are open to members of the Mirrormont Community Association. Events are just one of the many benefits of being an active member of the association. To become an active member, simply drop by one of our events, e-mail vpmembership@mirrormont.org or pay online click here to go to PayPal.

All events are coordinated by neighborhood volunteers. Without their help these events would not be possible. Volunteering is a great way to meet new people and to be a part of this community. Teens volunteers are welcome and community service hours can be provided. Please contact programs@mirrormont.org if you would like to volunteer.

Events

MCA Board Meeting: On the first Thursday of the month the Mirrormont Community Association hosts a monthly board meeting. Meetings are open to all residents of the community. Please feel free to drop by, participate and thank your resident volunteers.

Adult Socials: Three times a year the MCA hosts an evening for the adults of the community. For old residents and new alike, this is an occasion to relax, talk with friends, meet new people and enjoy excellent food and beverages. Adult socials are a great reason to get a babysitter! Socials are hosted at the clubhouse in the spring, summer and winter with winter being a popular wine tasting event. Food is served potluck style. Please, BYOB.

Easter Egg Hunt: The Easter Egg hunt is a favorite annual tradition for the families of Mirrormont. Children from infants to age 12 arrive at the clubhouse with baskets in hand to search for eggs filled with treats and toys hidden by the Easter Bunny. Teen volunteers help!

Garage Sale: HUGE & FUN! Open your garage doors and clean out the basement! A community wide garage sale pulls in the crowds! Advertised in local papers, scores of treasure seekers come up the hill to see what we have to offer. Registered homes are placed on a map near the community entrance. Whether you want to make some more space in the garage, make a few dollars or seek new treasures to bring home, this is a great weekend in Mirrormont.

Mother’s Day Picnic: Here is an opportunity for kids and families to get out, have fun and meet neighborhood families. The Mothers Day Picnic will be hosted in the Park (weather permitting) with the alternative location in the clubhouse. This is a family event with games, crafts, and prize drawings for Mom. If you have any questions as the date comes closer, email secretary@mirrormont.org .

Father’s Day Hike: Get out your hiking boots! The Father’s Day Hike is a fun outing for Dad’s and kids to join a group of adventurous families and explore 3-4 miles of trail in our own backyard on Tiger Mountain. In case of rain, activities will take place in the clubhouse or alternate location. If you have any questions as the date comes closer, email secretary@mirrormont.org .

Spring Clean-Up: A TRUE FAVORITE! Huge roll-off waste containers are delivered to the clubhouse parking lot and residents can drop off their big, bulky trash for disposal or recycling! Get rid of those broken kids toys, broken furniture… anything that does not fit into your regular waste bin! If you are unable to bring your items to the clubhouse pickup service may be arranged.

Adopt-A-Road: Grab a trash bag and hit the streets. The Adopt-A-Road program helps keep our community clean. Adopt-A-Road is a great community service day for adults and kids alike.

Tour of Gardens: When the summer shines on Mirrormont there is no prettier place on earth! Every 2-3 years, volunteer residents open their patios and yards for viewing to fellow garden lovers. Gardening advice, information on native plantings and microclimate conversations abound. Can you really grow tomatoes and peaches in Mirrormont? Come and find out! To participate please contact forestpractices@mirrormont.org.

Community Picnic & Swim: For one summer afternoon the MCA rents the Mirrormont Country Club (a private club) and opens the doors to all MCA members. A lifeguard is on duty and kids with adult supervision are welcome to come and play. Hot dogs, hamburgers and all the fixings are a highlight of this potluck style, family-friendly day of fun.

Halloween: The Halloween Party is another annual family favorite. Costumes, games, treats and prizes await the little ghouls & goblins (or Princesses and Harry Potters) of Mirrormont. Teen volunteers run the games and prize tables.

Park Work Parties: Several times each year the Mirrormont Park Committee hosts work parties to restore & maintain our hidden jewel, the Mirrormont King County Public Park. Bring your gloves, rakes and shovels. Snacks and beverages are provided. Families are welcome to participate. It is up to all of us, Mirrormont residents, to protect and maintain our very special passive use park.  Adopt-A-Plot family-maintained spaces are available. Please contact vppark@mirrormont.org

Please contact programs@mirrormont.org if you would like to volunteer. Your help makes events happen… Thanks!
