Help Youth in Foster Care Enjoy Camp This Summer!

In the United States today, there are approximately 513,000 youth in foster care, and 12 million alumni of the foster care system. Youth are placed in foster care through no fault of their own, and are often subject to multiple placements with foster families; multiple school placements; and often very little support or amenities that most children enjoy. This summer, let's help make life for local youth in care a bit more enjoyable by collecting goods for a Summer Camp Drive, which is sponsored by Treehouse for Kids. Treehouse is a Seattle-based, nonprofit agency whose purpose is to fill the gaps for kids in foster care, providing services that no other agency addresses: money for extra-curricular activities and summer camp, professional educational support services, resources to fully participate in the everyday activities of growing up, and clothing and supplies to help them fit in at school.

Every summer, Treehouse pays for hundreds of foster kids to experience something wonderful: the chance to get away from it all and be carefree for a week of summer camp. But summer camp comes with a packing list that many foster families can't afford. With your help, foster kids can have the summer of a lifetime.
